Homemade Brown Sugar & Honey Scrub Recipe (Pics Included)

If you are a huge beauty fan like I am, then you probably already know that you can make your own facial exfoliating scrub using ingredients from your kitchen cabinet. For those who haven't heard of such a thing, then allow me to introduce to a world of savings and satisfaction.

To rid your face of unwanted dead skin cells deep exfoliation is needed. Try this at home recipe twice a week to give your face a fresh glow and ultimately younger looking skin.

What You'll Need:

- A small plastic bowl

- Brown sugar

- Extra Virgin Olive Oil

- Honey

- A spoon

Instructions:

  1. Take about two spoonfulls of brown sugar and put into your plastic bowl

  2. Squeeze about one spoonfull of honey into the bowl with the sugar

  3. Take about one spoonfull of extra virgin olive oil to mix in the sugar and honey to loosen the paste. ( Those who tend to have oily skin, be very careful not to add to much oil in your mix for it will cause breakouts!)

  4. Take either your spoon or your fingers to mesh the mix together

  5. You are now ready to apply!

End result...

Once you have wet your face with luke warm water, apply the scrub to your face using small circular motions all over the face (scrubbing gently). After you have applied the scrub to the entire face, rinse and feel your soft and healthy look skin!!! You will be amazed at how this home beauty recipe actually works.

Tell me how it works for you by emailing me @ michellejones8@live.com. You can even tweet me @ http://twitter.com/girlandlipstick.

Remember to love your makeup. Love yourself.

Shoppin Saturdays! (Haul Pics)

So this past Saturday I found myself on the makeup aisles in Walmart debating which products I should put into my basket. After hours of walking the aisles (I literally spent two hours there) I grabbed a couple of essential items that I needed to stock up on like cotton balls. I knew that I wanted to try a new foundation but couldn't choose with the Iman, Covergirl, and Revlon's labels staring me square dead in the eyes. I was getting very frustrated; that was until my eyes landed on the Maybelline products. I decided to pick up the new Super Stay 24 Hour Liquid Foundation and the Great Lash BIG mascara (since I was already a fan of Maybelline's Great Lash mascara). Both items totaled about $17.00 . Stay tuned for the review on the Super Stay foundation!
Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day!! Love your makeup. Love yourself.

2010 Summer Makeup

Ahh..the joys of summer...fresh summer breezes, summer concerts, flirty dresses and "cooked" face makeup. Ugh! The summer heat can be unbearable at times and can also mean bad things for your face. This summer, beat the heat and look gorgeous doing it with the following tips.

Tip #1: Wear sunscreen
I wouldn't dare share any tips with you for flawless summer makeup without telling you to invest in a bottle of sunscreen. Ladies, this is extremely important when going out in the sun and will do wonders for you ten years down the line (Say no to premature aging ladies). Use it in your daily makeup routine this summer; you can wear alone or pair with a SPF face moisturizer. If you happen to find a face moisturizer that contains sunscreen in it you have the best of both worlds. But, remember the more sunscreen coverage the better you can protect your skin from harmful sun rays. Try Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF 15, $20, drugstores nationwide

Tip #2: Invest in bronzer
Bronzer can help bring that I-just-came-from-the-beach look to your face no matter your skin tone. It will create a natural glow to your makeup look which will liven up things in your normal routine. Apply to the apples of cheeks (before applying blush), the bridge of the nose, the chin and temples. Try MAC's 'To the Beach' Bronzing Powder, $22, maccosmetics.com

Tip #3: Subtle coral lips
This trend is so in and looks great on dark skin tones as well as fair tones. Corals range from peach to orange undertones; plainly put: you can't go wrong with corals. But, if you're still skeptical, try out a lip gloss first; it's the easiest way to try new lipcolor. Try Black Radiance Radiant Lip Gloss in Coral Craze, $3, drugstores nationwide

Tip #4: It's prime time! (Face Primer)
One of the most wisest investments you will ever make will be to purchase a face primer. Makeup primer allows your makeup to stay put all day long (a needed accessory in the hot summer months). Apply makeup primer after you have applied your face moisturizers and before your makeup. Try AVON's Magix Face Perfector SPF 20, $10, avon.com

Tip #5: Waterproof your lashes
Mascara is a big deal for me; not only does it make your eyes look more awake but it spruces up your entire look. Waterproof mascara will defintely keep you looking hot by the pool this summer and you will utlimatley avoid raccoon eyes. Try AVON's Super Full Mascara, $5, avon.com

Stay beautiful this summer ladies! Got any questions? Email me @ michellejones@live.com.

Love your makeup. Love yourself.
