(Affordable) Fall/Winter Beauty Finds that Will Last the Entire Season

The seasons are changing and with the Holidays just around the corner, we will not only see the change in the weather outside but in our wallets also. If you are like me, then you are probably looking to stock up on essential Fall/Winter beauty items to rid your drawers of all that summer clutter. Let’s face it ladies: Now is the time to get those items that are going to last us this season (because who wants to feel guilty for not getting Mom that pretty dress she’s been eyeing all summer?). Well you’re in luck: consider this brief list your shopping sidekick. The items listed will not only get you through the seasons, but will also save some you cash and we can all appreciate that, right? Right! Enjoy!

1. Vaseline’s Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioner Lotion- $5.79, select Walgreens stores

Lock moisture in, keep dryness away! This product is not the one to fail; known to last you all day without that dry and itchy feeling twenty minutes after application. Apply to skin generously right after hopping out the shower.

2. Dove’s Cream Oil Ultra Rich Velvet Body Wash 2 pk. - $10.24, select Wal-Mart stores.

Ready to have your body wrapped in velvetiness then this is your product. Great for harsher winter months, this product will have your skin screaming for more come bath time…and talk about a real bang for your buck…you can get to products for the price of one!

3. Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse Makeup- $5.39, select Walgreens stores

A favorite in my makeup kit, this little baby will certainly give you a natural finish that will not only last you for a full day, but will leave your skin feeling smoother after taking it off. The greatest thing about this product is that it doesn’t take much to create the type of coverage you want to achieve.
4. Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Gleam Cream Eyeshadow- $3.79, select Walgreens stores

I have never been a fan of creamy shadows, just because of my oily lids (eww…) but rave reviewers are swearing by this product. Claimed to give you a matte and glossed finish, these shadows will have you looking runway-ready in mere minutes!
5. Sephora’s Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain- $12, Sephora stores

If you like getting your money’s worth on beauty products, then you will love this. Sephora carries this lip tint in a tube that naturally gives your lips a perfect pout without the mess. It sure does help that it doubles as a cheek stain too! This product will last you throughout your day and contains anti-oxidants to help keep you look like the blushing beauty you are this season.

88 Coastal Scents Eye Palette: Review

Coastal Scents E/S Palette (Review)

Price Range: Excellent, Above Average
Packaging: Good
Overall buying experience: Awesome!
Review:

Girls, I have to dish about my recent purchase from Coastal Scents. After viewing countless YouTube videos, I became convinced that I must try the brand’s line of eye shadows. Oh my goodness, these shadows are the absolute best!! I purchased the 88 eye shadow palette for about $20.00 total. I call them my “mini” shadows because the palette I purchased was actually by mistake. So immediately when I received my CS palette, I was slightly disappointed because of the size of the palette (but, it was my fault because I should have looked more closely at the measurements and the complimentary pics).

My first time using the shadows was amazing. I used my small eye shader brush from ECO Tools and usually it doesn’t pick up a lot of powdered shadow, but with the CS shadows I got intense color instantly when I dipped my brush into the colors. Very impressed with this palette because you get great quality shadows for a low price. I’m in love forreal and won’t be buying high end e/s brands for awhile.

You have got to try this brand, they not only sell eye shadows, but they carry blushes, lip glosses and even natural beauty products.

Hard Candy's 1,000 Lashes Mascara Review

Hey ladies, I was doing some shopping last week and made my way to the cosmetic aisle (go figures...lol) but anyways, I was able to try the brand Hard Candy for the first time. The brand just recently became available in Walmart chain stores nationwide and I was curious to see what they had to offer. So being a mascara fiend, I chose the 1,000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Mascara (thats a mouthful, huh?).

Here's my take on it:

First off let me say that the packaging on this mother is so cute that I couldn't resist (mad props to the marketing team because their products defintely know how to catch your attention from the shelves) which is why I was so skeptical of trying their products because sometimes packaging can mislead you...sad but true. I did not expect it to be as small as it was but the mascara is very user-friendly. The wand is slightly large and it coated my "stumpy" lashes perfectly with just one swipe. With two coats, your lashes will look like falsies giving you that glam but oh-so-natural look. I didn't experience any clumps at all and once it came time to take my makeup off at the end of the day, I didn't have a hard time getting it off...the mascara felt really gentle but gave me the drama and volume that I wanted without the heavy feeling. I'm here to tell ya folks, this bad baby does not disappoint! :)

Not to mention the mascara comes in a range of colors from navy blue to fuschia pink (yes I said pink!). I purchased the one in Midnight Black just to be on the safe side, but you may want to add this item to your beauty shopping list. You can go on the company's website at www.hardcandy.com and view the mascara mentioned here. Under the pic, you will see a link to Walmart's site where pricing info can be found.
Stay beautiful ladies,
Chelle

What are your beauty MUSTS for Fall?

Whether you like it or not, Fall is just around the corner (before you know it, we will be stuffing those Christmas stockings..lol) and with the seasons changing some of us like to switch out our favorite summer beauty staples to items that better suit the nature.

Personally, I tend to stock up on creamier body washes like the ones from Olay. They tend to keep my skin softer and smoother (something thats is very needed in preparation for the harsh winds that come in the latter fall time). I also like to try matte lip colors like lipstains or even lipsticks (gloss on occasion).

So tell me, what are your must-haves for the fall?

Homemade Brown Sugar & Honey Scrub Recipe (Pics Included)

If you are a huge beauty fan like I am, then you probably already know that you can make your own facial exfoliating scrub using ingredients from your kitchen cabinet. For those who haven't heard of such a thing, then allow me to introduce to a world of savings and satisfaction.

To rid your face of unwanted dead skin cells deep exfoliation is needed. Try this at home recipe twice a week to give your face a fresh glow and ultimately younger looking skin.

What You'll Need:

- A small plastic bowl

- Brown sugar

- Extra Virgin Olive Oil

- Honey

- A spoon

Instructions:

  1. Take about two spoonfulls of brown sugar and put into your plastic bowl

  2. Squeeze about one spoonfull of honey into the bowl with the sugar

  3. Take about one spoonfull of extra virgin olive oil to mix in the sugar and honey to loosen the paste. ( Those who tend to have oily skin, be very careful not to add to much oil in your mix for it will cause breakouts!)

  4. Take either your spoon or your fingers to mesh the mix together

  5. You are now ready to apply!

End result...

Once you have wet your face with luke warm water, apply the scrub to your face using small circular motions all over the face (scrubbing gently). After you have applied the scrub to the entire face, rinse and feel your soft and healthy look skin!!! You will be amazed at how this home beauty recipe actually works.

Tell me how it works for you by emailing me @ michellejones8@live.com. You can even tweet me @ http://twitter.com/girlandlipstick.

Remember to love your makeup. Love yourself.

Shoppin Saturdays! (Haul Pics)

So this past Saturday I found myself on the makeup aisles in Walmart debating which products I should put into my basket. After hours of walking the aisles (I literally spent two hours there) I grabbed a couple of essential items that I needed to stock up on like cotton balls. I knew that I wanted to try a new foundation but couldn't choose with the Iman, Covergirl, and Revlon's labels staring me square dead in the eyes. I was getting very frustrated; that was until my eyes landed on the Maybelline products. I decided to pick up the new Super Stay 24 Hour Liquid Foundation and the Great Lash BIG mascara (since I was already a fan of Maybelline's Great Lash mascara). Both items totaled about $17.00 . Stay tuned for the review on the Super Stay foundation!
Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day!! Love your makeup. Love yourself.

2010 Summer Makeup

Ahh..the joys of summer...fresh summer breezes, summer concerts, flirty dresses and "cooked" face makeup. Ugh! The summer heat can be unbearable at times and can also mean bad things for your face. This summer, beat the heat and look gorgeous doing it with the following tips.

Tip #1: Wear sunscreen
I wouldn't dare share any tips with you for flawless summer makeup without telling you to invest in a bottle of sunscreen. Ladies, this is extremely important when going out in the sun and will do wonders for you ten years down the line (Say no to premature aging ladies). Use it in your daily makeup routine this summer; you can wear alone or pair with a SPF face moisturizer. If you happen to find a face moisturizer that contains sunscreen in it you have the best of both worlds. But, remember the more sunscreen coverage the better you can protect your skin from harmful sun rays. Try Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF 15, $20, drugstores nationwide

Tip #2: Invest in bronzer
Bronzer can help bring that I-just-came-from-the-beach look to your face no matter your skin tone. It will create a natural glow to your makeup look which will liven up things in your normal routine. Apply to the apples of cheeks (before applying blush), the bridge of the nose, the chin and temples. Try MAC's 'To the Beach' Bronzing Powder, $22, maccosmetics.com

Tip #3: Subtle coral lips
This trend is so in and looks great on dark skin tones as well as fair tones. Corals range from peach to orange undertones; plainly put: you can't go wrong with corals. But, if you're still skeptical, try out a lip gloss first; it's the easiest way to try new lipcolor. Try Black Radiance Radiant Lip Gloss in Coral Craze, $3, drugstores nationwide

Tip #4: It's prime time! (Face Primer)
One of the most wisest investments you will ever make will be to purchase a face primer. Makeup primer allows your makeup to stay put all day long (a needed accessory in the hot summer months). Apply makeup primer after you have applied your face moisturizers and before your makeup. Try AVON's Magix Face Perfector SPF 20, $10, avon.com

Tip #5: Waterproof your lashes
Mascara is a big deal for me; not only does it make your eyes look more awake but it spruces up your entire look. Waterproof mascara will defintely keep you looking hot by the pool this summer and you will utlimatley avoid raccoon eyes. Try AVON's Super Full Mascara, $5, avon.com

Stay beautiful this summer ladies! Got any questions? Email me @ michellejones@live.com.

Love your makeup. Love yourself.
